Two England stars not training with main group due to load management - Reports

England v Slovenia: Group C - UEFA EURO 2024
Rice and Trippier are away from the main training group.

England stars Declan Rice and Kieran Trippier were reportedly spotted training away from the team. According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, the pair were separated from the main group to manage their load and were undergoing individual training programmes elsewhere.

The report also issued an update on Phil Foden, who is yet to return to the team. The Manchester City star returned to England for the birth of his third child. While he is not in practice, he is expected to make it back in time for the Three Lions' Round of 16 clash against Slovakia.

Finally, it was reported that Manchester United defender Luke Shaw was also in training. The 28-year-old was a surprise inclusion by manager Gareth Southgate having missed a large part of the campaign with an injury.

With no other natural left-backs in the squad apart from Shaw, Southgate have resorted to using Trippier in the position, a move that has earned criticism from many quarters.

While they finished as winners of Group C with one win and two draws, fans have been left disappointed with the side's performances. Despite boasting the likes of Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham, they have looked toothless in attack.

Should England get past Slovakia in the Round of 16, a clash against the winners of the Italy vs Switzerland game awaits them in the quarter-finals.

England path to the finals of Euro 2024 revealed after finishing on top of Group C

England have been presented with a rather favorable draw after they finished on top of Group C. Gareth Southgate's side have been drawn against Slovakia to begin their knockout campaign.

Early on, the Netherlands looked to be the Three Lions' likely opponents in the Round of 16. However, Georgia's stunning 2-0 win over Portugal changed the draw, with Slovakia eventually becoming their opponents.

England have had a great stroke of luck with how the draw has fallen out. With the likes of France and Belgium failing to win their groups, they are on the other side of the draw. Germany, Spain and Portugal are also on the opposite side, meaning they can be avoided until the final.

Italy/Switzerland are their prospective opponents for the quarter-finals. Should they win that game, they would play either the Netherlands, Romania, Austria or Turkey in the semis.
