Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. will reportedly demand to be paid equal to Kylian Mbappe in the next round of contract renewal talks with the management. The Brazilian's current contract with Los Blancos runs until June 2027 but the club is keen on discussing a renewal in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Vinicius Jr. is considered one of the biggest stars and most valued players in the Real Madrid squad. In 285 appearances for the Merengues, Vini Jr. has contributed 97 goals and 83 assists. According to Capology, the Brazil superstar earns around €20.8 million per year in his current contract.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe, who signed for Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent in the summer of 2024, is reportedly the highest-paid player in the squad. The Frenchman earns a reported €31 million per year.

According to an AS report, Vinicius Jr. will be happy to sign an extension with Real Madrid if his wages are at par with those of Kylian Mbappe. When the Brazilian last signed an extension in October 2023, he accepted a comparatively lower salary than the club's highest earners. However, the Selecao superstar is now confident about his value in the team and wishes to be compensated at par with Mbappe.

The aforementioned report further suggests that Saudi Arabian interest in signing Vinicius Jr. could also complicate contract talks. Multiple Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Ahli in particular, are keen on signing the Brazilian megastar next summer.

While Vinicius is not keen on a move to the Middle East, he reportedly wanted to hear the offer, sparking concerns about his future at Real Madrid. However, Vinicius stressed that he was happy to remain with Los Blancos if his demands were met.

In an October 2024 interview (as quoted by Eurosport), Real Madrid superstar Vini Jr. made his intentions of staying at the club clear. His comments came after Los Blancos' 5-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League league phase. The Brazilian notably netted a hat-trick in the game.

"I'm still only 24. I want to stay here forever and contribute as much as possible to this team, which has given me everything since I arrived here. [Carlo] Ancelotti told me to keep it up, and that I can always do more," Vinicius said.

Vini Jr. has maintained his impressive form this season, contributing 13 goals and nine assists in 20 outings for the Merengues across competitions. He also recently won the FIFA Men's Best Player award for the 2023-24 season and stood second in the Ballon d'Or rankings.
