West Ham United have reportedly received the green light to sign Manchester United-linked Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window. This is as per a report from CaughtOffSide, who say that the Hammers are going to onboard the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker on a loan deal.

This may seem a reasonable approach, given the player is said to be valued at £65 million by the Parisians. Moreover, the east Londoners have enjoyed a poor start to the current campaign and are placed 14th in the Premier League standings.

A large part of their failures this year has been down to the lack of productivity in front of goal. They've netted on 20 occasions in 15 matches, the lowest for the top 14 sides in this division.

Summer signing Niclas Fullkrug has also disappointed since joining from Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of €27 million. He's scored just one goal in five appearances across competitions under Julen Lopetegui.

Therefore, there is a need for a bit of freshness at the London Stadium, and Kolo Muani could be the man to provide the same. He's an experienced player who has played in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

To date, the France international has made 54 appearances across competitions for PSG, bagging 11 goals and seven assists. He's started just two Ligue 1 matches this campaign and is seemingly behind Goncalo Ramos in the pecking order for the number nine position.

Amid these circumstances, it may seem wise to try out his luck and secure some regular game time with West Ham United till the end of the season.

Much has been made of Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim's decision to drop Marcus Rashford out of the squad for his team's 2-1 win against Manchester City.

Sunday's fixture (December 15) saw the England international fail to feature in the first XI for the third consecutive league game. Speaking about this on Sky Sports, Neville said (via Mirro):

“We've been sat in this studio for years as ex-Manchester United players saying, 'Give your absolute all', and players haven't been running back. We've seen Rashford and Garnacho stand on that left and right wing and not chase back when full-backs have gone past them and still stay on the pitch. No more."

Rashford has played 15 league matches this season, bagging four goals and an assist. It will be interesting to see whether he can push to feature in Manchester United's midweek Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur (December 19).
