According to a report by Diario Sport, Barcelona are set to change their position on Spanish forward Ansu Fati. Blaugrana boss Xavi Hernandez is reportedly keen to keep the forward at the club and considers him part of the club's heritage.
The La Masia graduate has been disappointing for Brighton & Hove Albion and Hove Albion this season, making just three starts. While the loan to the Premier League outfit was arranged to help the forward rediscover his form, his injury record and inability to consistently make things happen in the final third has cost him regular football.
Hence, Barcelona are more open to selling the forward, with the club looking to move the forward if a good price is offered. However, it will be difficult to find a reasonable offer after his poor season with the Seagulls.
Xavi will reportedly keep fighting for the player in the background according to the aforementioned report. Given that Xavi has decided to stay at the club, the team might be set to make a concession.
Xavi Hernandez decides to stay at Barcelona
Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has decided to stay in his position as manager. The Blaugrana boss had previously announced he would leave the club at the end of the season after a mixed start to the ongoing campaign. Xavi, however, has made a U-turn and will continue managing his boyhood club.
The Spaniard told ESPN about his decision to stay at Barcelona:
"I love Barça and I always try to do what is in the club's best interests. In these three months [since announcing my departure], I have noticed the support from the president [Joan Laporta], the board of directors and [sporting director] Deco. The support of the players and the fans - who have encouraged me on the street and filled the stadium - has also been important in deciding to reverse my decision.
Xavi continued:
"We probably won't win any trophies this season but this is a winning project. We have to continue with it and we have to keep working hard. I feel we have the capacity, the energy and the motivation to keep going. In January, I thought a change was needed but I think this is the best decision now. I think it brings stability and I am happy, above all, for the backing I have received from the club."
The Spanish World Cup winner concluded:
"Many people have made me see that this project is not finished. I am staying to keep winning. We will correct the small details that have cost us this year and we believe next season we will be closer to our objectives."
Barcelona will next be in action in La Liga at home against Valencia on Monday (April 29).
