Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly the subject of interest of his former club Ajax and Bayern Munich. The Dutchman has been at the Old Trafford helm since 2022.
Ten Hag enjoyed a superb debut campaign at United, ending their six-year trophy drought by winning the EFL Cup, reaching the FA Cup final and finishing third in the Premier League.
However, he hasn't been able to build on that in his sophomore campaign, with the Red Devils set to finish outside the top-five after a whopping 14 defeats. Their EFL Cup title defence also ended early, while they finished last in their UEFA Champions League group to bow out of Europe.
With new minority owners INEOS taking charge earlier this year, Ten Hag's position is far from secure as they battle to qualify for Europe next season. Even an FA Cup triumph might not save him, as per reports.
Meanwhile, The Mirror (as per Sportsmole) has reported that Ajax and Bayern are looking to snap up Ten Hag in case he faces the sack at Old Trafford. Bayern are parting ways with their current boss Thomas Tuchel after a first trophyless campaign since 2011-12, while Ajax have also had a largely forgettable campaign.
What's next for Erik ten Hag's Manchester United?
Manchester United - as mentioned before - have endured a hugely underwhelming campaign, both domestically and in Europe, except for their run to the FA Cup final.
They have blown hot and cold, especially in the league, where they are coming off a 3-2 home win over Newcastle United. They take on Brighton & Hove Albion away on the final day of the season on Sunday (May 19). The Red Devils, with 57 points, are eighth after 37 games, behind Newcastle on goal difference and three behind sixth-placed Chelsea.
The reverse fixture against Brighton at Old Trafford in September saw United lose 3-1. Interestingly, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi will be managing his final game at the club, having announced his decision to leave at the end of the season.
The Red Devils close their season with an FA Cup final with holders Manchester City on May 25, having fallen 2-1 to their 'noisy neighbours' in the title match last year.
