Rumour: Ambitious Chelsea look to complete player swap for Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa

Reports claim that Chelsea are plotting a move for Atletico star Diego Costa, which would see young goal-keeping sensation Thibaut Courtois go the other way, in a permanent swap deal.

The Belgian, who is currently on-loan at the Vincente Calderon, is touted to become an able successor to Petr Cech. However, Courtois has declared he needs assurances of a regular starting berth at Chelsea, if he were to return after his loan-spell. Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone has expressed his desire to tie him down to a permanent deal, after a string of impressive performances.

Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa have been in magnificent form so far this season, which has seen their side go up to second in the table, ahead of fierce rivals, Real Madrid. The Brazil forward has scored 15 goals in 15 appearances in the La Liga, only second to Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo.

As Blues boss, Jose Mourinho, looks to solve his ongoing problem up-front, the mercurial 25-year old could be the answer.

Costa might favour a move to the Premier League which will see him bag a considerable pay-rise, and increase his chances of securing major silverware.
