Arsenal have reportedly bid £19.4 million for Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal have attempted to steal a march on the competition by making a £19.4 million bid for Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez, according to the Metro.

The Chilean has been linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer with Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus and Manchester United all interested in signing the forward.

He scored 21 goals for Barcelona last season and was superb in Lionel Messi’s absence, scoring some key goals like a winner in the win over Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.

Liverpool are negotiating with Barcelona for the sale of Luis Suarez for a potential £80m deal and want Alexis Sanchez in return, who is valued around £30m by the Spanish giants. Their valuation and Arsenal’s alleged bid is a long way apart, but recent reports suggested that the Chilean forward preferred a move to north London over Liverpool.

Apparently Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is convinced that Sanchez wants to join the Gunners so has made his first move, ahead of the competition.

However, Spanish expert Begonian Perez said yesterday that Sanchez prefers Italy, so his future is quite uncertain at the moment, but with Liverpool demanding Sanchez in exchange for Suarez, it seems the Reds have the upper hand with his future.
