Arsenal are plotting a summer bid for David Marshall as the Mirror reports that they will look to bring in competition for Wojciech Szczesny next season, with Lukasz Fabianski set to quit the club in the summer.
Marshall is one of few players to emerge from Cardiff City’s season with any credit for his performances in goal for the Bluebirds, despite their relegation from the Premier League, earning himself a new and improved contract at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Lukasz Fabianski is set to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season after growing frustrated with his relegation to cup ‘keeper for the Gunners, with Szczesny having become the undisputed number one in the league and Europe.
Arsene Wenger wants to continue a two goalkeeper policy at the Emirates next season and has been impressed with the displays of Marshall despite the woes of his side.
Cardiff are keen to hold onto the Scottish ‘keeper in their bid to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt, but the rumoured £8million potentially on the table from the North London club would be enough to tempt them into a sale, while the prospect of Champions League football would appeal to Marshall himself.
