Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to swap Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen for Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley.
There were rumours earlier that Red Devils had agreed a deal with the 28-year-old Belgian defender.
It is very much likely that the swap may happen as the Old Trafford giants are keen to complete the £10 million deal for the centre back.
Vermaelen, who has only one year left in his contract, would like a potential move to Old Trafford as he has been relegated down the pecking order despite being the captain of the Arsenal with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker performing impressively at the back.
He would hope for a possibility of starting games at Old Trafford and fill the void left by Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic who completed a move to Inter Milan.
Tom Cleverley, who scored only one goal from 31 games last season, is reportedly in Arsene Wenger’s scheme of things despite the youngster not being in the best of form.
Vermaelen is currently away on international duty in Brazil with Belgium in the ongoing FIFA World Cup while Cleverley failed to find a place in the 23-man England squad.
