Arsenal are thought to have made a new, improved offer to keep full-back Bacary Sagna at the club, according to Goal.
Sagna’s contract expires in the summer and he is apparently seeking a three-year deal to stay at Arsenal, but the club have a policy against offering such contracts to players aged 30 and over.
The Gunners have announced a mass of new deals including Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky but the silence of Sagna’s future is worrying for the north Londoners.
Apparently Arsenal have offered the Frenchman a two-year, £75,000-a-week deal that includes an option for a third year – such is their willingness to keep a hold of him.
The deal would represent a 25% increase on the £60,000-a-week, two-year offer that had previously been on the table, although it still falls short of Sagna’s weekly £100,000 demands.
Italian giants Inter are extremely interested in Sagna and the full-back is able to discuss a contract with any foreign team because of his soon-to-be expiring contract.
Goal believe that they will offer Sagna £2.35 million per year, after taxes and deductions, which is equivalent to £90,000 per week in the UK. The Inter offer would be the same terms of duration as Arsenal’s: two years and an option of a third year.
Sagna has won 91 headed duels this season.
