Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta looks on.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is reportedly keen on joining Marseille ahead of the new season. The 25-year-old isn't a regular first-team player for manager Mikel Arteta.

In 37 games across competitions last season, Nketiah contributed six goals and three assists. Most of those goal contributions - five goals and two assists in 27 games - came in the Premier League, where the Gunners finished two points behind winners Manchester City, but he started only 13 times.

Although he's contracted to the Emirates till 2027, Nketiah is behind Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order. His returns, especially in the league - 19 goals in 116 games - are hardly eye-popping.

Foot Mercato (via Metro) has reported that Marseille has made an offer for the striker, having completed the signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United after Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang left for Saudi Arabia.

Nketiah has a market value of €30 million (as per Transfermarkt), but the Gunners' response to Roberto De Zerbi's side's bid is unknown. Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 side are also apparently close to snapping up Tottenham Hotspur's Pierre Emil Hojbjerg, having agreed personal terms with the player.

A look at Arsenal's 2023-24 season

Arsenal have had an impressive 2023-24 season. Although, in terms of silverware, they only have the FA Community Shield to show for it, they pushed City all the way in a riveting Premier League title race.

The Gunners came close to ending their 20-year-old league title drought before falling short by two points on the final day. Despite their early ousters in both domestic cups, Mikel Arteta's side fared well on their UEFA Champions League return.

They reached their first quarter-final in 14 years, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich - and are set to play in the revamped and expanded competition again next season.

Arteta's side are poised for another strong season and will look to capture a big title to confirm their progress under Arteta.
