Carlos Vela could return to Arsenal the club two years after leaving the club, with reports suggesting that the Gunners are going to exercise their buy-back option on the Real Sociedad winger.
Vela left the Gunners on a permanent deal in 2012, but may be about to make a cut price return. Arsenal inserted a buy-back option into the deal that took the Mexican to Spain. The clause is believed to allow Arsenal to re-sign the midfielder for around £3 million and with Vela’s value having rocketed since he left the club it is set to be a win: win situation for the Gunners.
The 25-year-old netted 15 league goals last season for Sociedad and created 78 chances, including 12 assists. Such form has alerted other clubs to the Mexican and Arsenal could make a tidy profit on the winger.
If Arsene Wenger exercises the buy-back option then he has the choice of adding Vela to his first team squad, or of immediately selling him at a significant profit to the £3 million needed to bring him back to the Emirates.
During his first spell at the club Vela made 29 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
