In-form Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is well on the way to earning a contract extension at the Emirates at the end of the season, according to the Independent.
A clause in the Czech veteran’s current deal states that if he participates in more than 25 games he is entitled to a 1-year extension and with 10 appearances to his name already, Rosicky is likely to pass that threshold.
The 33-year-old is one of the longest serving players currently at the club, having joined in 2006 for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be in the region of £8 million.
He is enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment and was sorely missed in Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United with his team-mates missing Rosicky’s incisive link-up play after he left the squad in Manchester due to illness.
Although players like Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are currently claiming all the limelight, Rosicky’s return to fitness has been vital in the victories over Spurs, Dortmund and Liverpool.
Having been plagued by injuries throughout his Arsenal career that has restricted him to just under 20 Premier League games a season since his arrival, Rosicky will be relishing the chance to repay Arsene Wenger’s faith in his ability and secure his first piece of silverware at the North London club.
Tomas Rosicky has created 10 chances and laid on one assist in his six appearances so far this season.
