Arsenal are reportedly chasing teenage goalkeeper Simone Scuffet after the youngster broke through into the Udinese team this season, according to the Metro.
The 17-year-old has appeared for Udinese in their last three games after getting a surprise chance and has impressed visiting scouts already after keeping clean sheets in his first two outings.
Arsenal are in the market for a goalkeeper in the summer with Lukasz Fabianski making it clear he wishes to move on for the sake of his international career after failing to dislodge compatriot Wojciech Szczesny from between the sticks, while Emiliano Viviano is unlikely to earn a permanent deal after seeing very little action in his loan move from Palermo.
Arsenal believe a young ‘keeper to be perfect to provide a foil for Szczesny, who has finally established himself worthy of keeping hold of the number one shirt and despite his young age, Scuffet’s first-team experience for Udinese gives them reason to believe that he could be relied on should Szczesny suffer injury or suspension.
Arsenal plan to enter talks with the Serie A club in the summer with a view to a transfer, but will face competition for Scuffet’s signature, with Juventus also having expressed an interest in the prospect.
