According to reports coming out of Spain, Atletico Madrid have asked Manchester United to cough up €60 million for star midfielder Koke. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the midfielder for quite some time now.
The demand comes as a surprise, considering the release clause in the 21-year old’s contract is pegged only at €35 million.
Koke has been in exceptional form this season, reveling in his deep midfield role for manager Diego Simeone. He has clocked 8 assists which has seen his side keep pace with La Liga leaders Barcelona at the summit of La Liga.
David Moyes was spotted at the Vincente Calderon early in December, rumored to be scouting the Spanish sensation. A player in the mould of Koke is exactly what Manchester United need, as they look to rejig their side following an unusual start to the campaign.
A move in January seems unlikely, as Atletico Madrid will be gunning for the La Liga title amidst immense competition from neighbors Real Madrid and Catalan giants, Barcelona. However, if Manchester United should trigger the release clause, the transfer deal could be on.
