Barcelona have joined the race along with Arsenal and Manchester United to avail the services of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to Daily Mail.
Real Madrid have also been tracking the player for quite sometime now. But if the reports coming from the Spanish media are to believed, Gundogan’s father has recently met Barcelona officials.
Gundogan’s contract with Dortmund expires at the end of the 2015 season. His modest £25,000-a-week salary certainly makes him desirable to many clubs.
Real Madrid see Gundogan as their ideal replacement for Xabi Alonso. The veteran Spanish midfielder chose not to renew his deal at the Bernabeu which is due to expire at the end of the current season.
