Barcelona will reportedly try to sign their 2024 transfer target Nico Williams once again next summer after missing out on his signing this transfer window. The Spanish winger had been on their radar for a while, but the deal supposedly didn't go through due to multiple factors.

According to The Daily Briefing, Barca continue to remain interested in bringing Williams to the Camp Nou and will try to sign him once again in 2025.

The club reportedly believes that their well-documented financial woes led to their failure to sign the Spanish winger, alongside the player's personal preferences.

Williams reportedly wanted to remain at Athletic Club for at least one more season and compete in the UEFA Europa League with the Basque side alongside his brother Inaki Williams.

However, Barcelona believe the younger Williams could change his mind next summer. They also expect to be in a better state financially in the future, with them reportedly working on multiple deals to improve their economic condition.

If Barca are able to improve their offer or pay Williams' release clause next summer, his arrival at the Camp Nou could be a possibility.

Nico Williams could be a viable solution to the Blaugrana due to their lack of a natural left winger, a position they've struggled with since the departure of Neymar Jr. in 2017. His partnership with Lamine Yamal could be another advantage, as the duo were key to Spain's triumph at Euro 2024 this summer.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal have also reportedly been monitoring the Spanish winger and could give tough competition to Barcelona.

Athletic Club winger Nico Williams addressed his links with a move to Barcelona this summer. Speaking to the media, the Spaniard said (via 365scores):

“Interest from Barça and other clubs? That’s my agent’s thing. Yes, there were many approaches with many clubs."

Williams reiterated his decision to stay at the Basque side as he explained:

“The Euros was a showcase but my heart is at Athletic Club and I wanted to stay here. Of course, no one knows what will happen in the future.”

Nico Williams reportedly attracted a lot of attention from multiple big clubs this summer after his sensational performance at the Euros. He registered two goals and one assist in the tournament, including the first goal against England in La Roja's 2-1 win in the final.

However, the Spaniard is yet to score or assist for Athletic this season.
