FC Barcelona are set to sell Alex Song this summer after the Cameroonian’s disappointing spell at the Camp Nou.
After signing for around £16million for the Catalans in 2012, the defensive midfielder has been unreliable and sporting director Andoni Zubizaretta reportedly wants to sell him as a summer clear out seems imminent at the club following a disappointing season.
Barcelona are reportedly selling Song for only half the price they acquired him for – €10m (£8m).
Manchester United could benefit from acquiring the 26-year-old as they evidently lack proper cover for their defence. He could also free up Marouane Fellaini to play a role in midfield.
With Louis van Gaal rumoured to be appointed soon, the move seems likely along with a bunch of other signings.
