Hansi Flick's Barcelona have removed LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David from their shortlist of attackers to replace Robert Lewandowski, as per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The Blaugrana were considering Jonathan David, Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres as potential successors for the Polish attacker. However, they have removed the Canadian forward from their list because Flick is not convinced that David would fit the right profile at the Camp Nou.

David's contract with Lille expires in the summer. He joined the Ligue 1 side from KAA Gent in the summer of 2021 for a reported fee of €27 million. He has played 209 times for them across competitions, bagging 101 goals and 23 assists.

In November, the Canadian attacker expressed his dream of playing for Barcelona. He said (via the GOAL):

"(Barcelona) was always the team I grew up supporting. When you grow up supporting a club, it's a dream to play for them."

However, the La Liga giants are facing financial struggles and Fair Play woes. Their main focus for the January transfer window will be renewals and registrations as they also have to register midfielder Dani Olmo before December 31.

Atletico Madrid reportedly join Barcelona to sign Tyrick Mitchell

As per CaughtOffside, Atletico Madrid have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell in the summer. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also reportedly in the fray.

Mitchell has been a part of Palace since the summer of 2016. The Englishman has made 166 appearances for the youth side of Palace, scoring three goals and providing 11 assists across competitions. His contract with the Eagles expires in the summer.

Meanwhile, four players are expected to leave Atletico in the summer, with Reinildo Mandava being one of them. The left-back has fallen down the pecking order and is unlikely to receive a contract renewal. As a result, Los Colchoneros are keen to sign Mitchell as his long-term replacement.

The 30-year-old defender joined the La Liga giants from LOSC Lille in 2022 and has made 91 appearances across competitions, scoring two goals and assisting one.
