Barcelona are set to ramp up interest in the immensely talented David Silva as the club looks to replace legendary playmaker Xavi, who is nearing the end of his playing career.
According to reports, senior officials at the Catalan club have unanimously earmarked the £50 million rated Manchester City player and have decided to spend all their efforts in trying to land the ace this summer.
Iconic Spanish midfielder, Xavi, who recently made his landmark 700th appearance for the La Liga giants, is said to have had offers from the United States and China, and could move on if he feels the need to do so.
The bosses at Camp Nou have identified the 28-year old stylish playmaker as an ideal replacement, as and when Xavi, 34-years old, decides to move on.
However, David Silva is a vital component of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, and the manager will do everything in his control to prevent the instrumental player leaving the Etihad.
A move to Barcelona could be tough to resist, but Manchester City’s bright prospects of silverware could keep the outstanding Silva in England.
