Rumour: Bayern looking to hijack Arsenal's bid for Julian Draxler

For the whole of the January window, Arsenal were linked with Schalke star Julian Draxler, but the move failed to materialize for unknown reasons.Now it looks like there will be heavy competition for his signature in Summer.

Julian Draxler is one of the top rising talents in German football. Defending European champions Bayern Munich are also rumored to be interested in signing Draxler.

Now, Bayern’s sporting director Matthias Sammer hinted that the they may go for Draxler in the Summer transfer window.

When asked about Draxler, he said,

“I would never rule out the best for the club.”

He was also questioned about the 20-year-old’s reported release-clause of €45.5million, at which point he said, “I understand the demands, but it is not currently our topic.”

So for now the mystery remains. But you can rest assured that given his talent, Europe’s biggest clubs will be interested in signing Draxler when the time does come for him to leave Schalke.
