Borussia Dortmund are set to make a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku as an alternative to Italian striker Ciro Immobile, according to reports.
Lukaku’s future is unclear despite excelling at Everton during his season on-loan at the club, where he finished as the clubs top goalscorer. A number of clubs have shown an interest in Lukaku, particularly the likes of Everton, & Tottenham, with the Belgian in hot demand.
However, the latest side to join the queue are German giants, Borussia Dortmund. They are eyeing up the former Anderlecht forward as an alternative to Ciro Immobile, the top goalscorer in Serie A this season.
Lukaku is deemed to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho bringing in Diego Costa as a replacement and Dortmund are targeting the colossal striker on a loan deal.
Journalist David Amoyal said: “Borussia Dortmund is focused on finding the right replacement for Lewandowski, their top choice is Ciro Immobile who led Serie A in goals scored this season.
“The Italian striker is open to the destination, coach Klopp wants to acquire him but despite making an official offer, Dortmund have yet to reach an agreement with Juventus and Torino, who own Immobile.
“As an alternative, or maybe as a way to unblock the Immobile situation, Dortmund made an inquiry for Lukaku, who is owned by Chelsea. They would like to acquire him on loan, but Immobile remains their top choice.”
