Toni Kroos has emerged as a potential transfer target for Chelsea next summer, after Manchester United failed to lure their main transfer target to Old Trafford
Kroos, a German international, has been a key player for Bayern Munich over the last few seasons. However, he seemed set for the exit door with problems regarding the renewal of his contract.
Manchester United have been constantly linked with Kroos’ services, but he announced last week that he was set to stay at the club after reports emerged last week that he was set to sign a new deal at Bayern. The midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester United before the January transfer window, but Pep Guardiola decided to keep the German until the summer.
Kroos said last week: ‘There has been a lot of speculation, but I won’t be going to Manchester United,’ he said. ‘I can tell you for sure I will be playing for Bayern Munich next season.’
Jose Mourinho is now planning to hijack the deal next year, according to the Daily Mail, and the Portuguese coach wants to sign the German when his contract expires in the summer of 2015.
Kroos is able to discuss terms with other clubs in the final six months of his contract, which has prompted Mourinho to prepare for January when he is able to open talks with the German international.
Kroos played a big part for the Bavarian giants in winning the double in Germany.
