Thibaut Courtois is due to speak to Chelsea in march as speculation heats up about his future, with Atletico Madrid keen on making his loan switch a permanent one, according to Sky Sports.
Manager Jose Mourinho has claimed he expects to have Courtois at his disposal next season, but the player himself has yet to make his intentions clear.
The Belgian number one has had three years of first team action at the highest level with Atletico and would demand the same at Chelsea, with Petr Cech still standing between him and that opportunity.
Courtois will fly to London next month in order to discuss Chelsea’s plans for his next season and the player’s father is hopeful they can resolve his future then and there.
Thierry Courtois said, “We have a meeting with Chelsea and we will be talking about everything with them.
“It is too early to make a definite decision yet. We have to negotiate with Chelsea.
“Thibaut has been doing very well at Atletico, but there are still three months of the season to go and a lot can happen in that time.”
Courtois signed for Chelsea in 2011 from Genk and has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid who are very keen on having Courtois in their side on a permanent basis after the Belgian stopper impressed during his time at Vicente Calderon.
Jose Mourinho has a big decision on his hands as to whether to incorporate the talented Belgian as his number one for the 2014/15 or to stick with loyal servant Cech who has spent ten years at Stamford Bridge now and has yet to provide a reason to be dropped.
Thibaut Courtois has kept 11 clean sheets for Atletico this season and averages 2.77 saves for every goal he concedes.
Petr Cech has made 1.76 saves per concession on his way to his 11 clean sheets.
