Premier League giants Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted to a reported £20 million release clause in Diego Costa’s contract which is set to be activated next summer, according to the Daily Express.
The Atletico Madrid star has been in excellent form this season with 13 goals in as many games, and the English clubs join Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the pursuit of the striker.
Dortmund are targeting the now-naturalised Spaniard as a replacement for the departing Robert Lewandowski, who is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich next summer.
Liverpool negotiated with Atletico for Costa in the summer transfer window but were ultimately rebuffed by the player himself in favour of signing a new contract.
Chelsea and Arsenal are also in the hunt for a top-class forward to bolster their ranks, and Costa would be an ideal addition to either squad.
The Daily Express also claims that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City are monitoring the situation ahead of possible moves next year.
The main reason behind Costa’s lethality this season has been an excellent shot accuracy of 69% and a sensational conversion rate of 36%.
