Juventus’s late defeat to Galatasaray may have a knock-on effect on their squad, with Tuttosport reporting that Wesley Sneijder’s winner in Istanbul is set to cost the Italian side up to £17 million. Such a hole in the budget is reportedly set to see one of Juventus’s top players depart, with the Express reporting that Claudio Marchisio is the man set to leave. Premier League trio Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpoolare all reportedly interested in the 27 year old midfielder, who has made 41 appearances for the Italian national side.
Whilst Juventus are not keen to sell Marchisio, finances dictate that someone must leave and club officials have identified Marchisio as the man to make way. Marchisio has played in 11 of the Turin side’s 15 league matches this season, in addition to four appearances in the Champions League. If he were to leave, then it would enable Juventus to keep hold of the likes of Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente, Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco.
Of the interested Premier League trio, all three are in need of a player of Marchisio’s ilk. Manchester United’s lack of top quality midfield talent is well documented, whilst Chelsea and Liverpool need long term replacements for Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard respectively.
