Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly planning to buy Spanish club Real Mallorca according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
Abramovich has already purchased majority shares from Real Mallorca’s vice-president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer and President Gabriel Cerda Alemany.
Real Mallorca, who avoided relegation from the Spanish second division, have caught the eye of the 47 year old Russian billionaire. Israeli goalkeeper Dudu Aouate will retire from competitive football, and start taking care of the day to day operations of the club from 1st July.
Though Aouate denied that Abramovich is planning to buy the club, he did admit that “it is true that there open negotiations with some people.”
In addition to the potential sale, it is believed that the Vice-President of Real Mallorca Lorenzo Serra Ferrer would receive €2.5 million (recouping part of his investment) if he sells his 45% shares for free whenever the club is sold as his clause states.
There were also rumours that he was planning to buy a stake at scottish side Hibernian FC, which was later dismissed. Hibs supporters gathered on saturday demanding the removal of their club chairman after their team got relegated and this prompted such rumours
