Jose Mourinho presence at recently held International friendly between Belgium and Colombia was enough evidence to prove that the “Special One ” was not only in attendance to see the performance of his Chelsea star player Eden Hazard but more importantly on a personal scouting mission of prolific Colombia striker Radamel Falcao. The Colombian striker who moved to AS Monaco in the summer has long been tracked by the North London club who are admirers of the goal machine. The Blues were reported to be close to sealing the deal in summer but pegged back mega rich French club who snapped up the deal for the striker. Since moving to Monaco Falcao has continued his goal scoring trend and has already netted 9 goals so far this season.
However with reports emerging that striker is discontented with the standard of football in Ligue 1 has prompted many suitors especially Chelsea in his services. Reports suggest that Mourinho has been giving a green signal to sign a striker in January transfer window in order to bolster the faltering forward line with the likes of Torres and Etoo yet to fully convince Mourinho that they are capable of leading the line.Demba Ba has rarely featured for the Blues this season and it seems more and more likely that the player will be sold off in the up coming transfer window. The inability to sign prime target Wayne Rooney during the summer has resulted in Chelsea in urgent need to sign a striker who is in top form and Falcao seems to fit the bill in that department with his physical presence an eye for goal may just be the ingredient missing for Mourinho to get the best out of his team.
Another reason what makes Falcao an attractive alternative for the Blues is that striker is eligible for Champions League football and with Chelsea almost certain to progress in knock out stages the Colombian striker could well be the trump card for Chelsea in the latter stages of tournament. An added advantage to Chelsea is also that the Colombian and Jose Mourinho both share a same agent Jorge Mendes with would prove crucial in paving the way for the deal. Some reports even go on to indicate that Chelsea are even ready to offer Torres in a cash plus player deal to land the striker a clear indication of intent of the London based club. However Chelsea would have to fight hard to land the striker with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United also thought to be considering making bids for the striker. It still remains unclear where Falcao future lies but there is no denying the fact that the January transfer window will provide a clearer indicator regarding the Colombian hit mans future
