Chelsea defender Renato Veiga has reportedly reached an agreement to move to Borussia Dortmund, with a move depending on an agreement between both clubs. The Portugal international has emerged as a target for multiple clubs this month after failing to nail down a starting berth at Stamford Bridge.
Veiga is wanted by Dortmund, who are exploring a loan move with an option to buy the 21-year-old at the end of the season, according to Sky journalist Patrick Berger. The Bundesliga side benefitted from a similar arrangement in January 2024, signing Ian Maatsen from the Blues on a short-term loan deal.
Chelsea signed Veiga from FC Basel for a reported £12 million in the summer, and the youngster has featured in a variety of positions. The Sporting CP academy graduate has been utilised primarily as cover for Marc Cucurella, with the bulk of his appearances this season coming at left-back. He has also filled in at centre-back and in a number of midfield roles for Enzo Maresca's side.
Renato Veiga has been monitored by Serie A outfit Napoli this month, and Wolves reportedly saw an offer to take him on loan turned down by the Blues. The youngster appears to be willing to join Dortmund as he seeks to play more regularly.
Veiga has made 18 appearances for the Blues this season, including eight in the UEFA Europa Conference League. With the Blues not appearing in the competition till March, the youngster appears set to pursue game time elsewhere.
Chelsea reportedly linked with move for Ajax youngster
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ajax teenage sensation Jorrel Hato, as per CaughtOffside. The Blues are looking to sign the 18-year-old Dutch left-back, who has been closely monitored by Arsenal and Real Madrid, among others.
Netherlands international Hato has played 89 times for Ajax and is the third-youngest player to play for the club. The Dutchman has scored two goals and provided four assists in 16 league appearances for Ajax this season.
Hato has caught the eyes of Maresca and Chelsea's recruitment team due to his quality and versatility at left-back and centre-back for club and country. The youngster is expected to cost around £40-45 million this month, with the Blues seemingly eager to finalise a transfer.
