Chelsea are to make a huge £20 million bid for Everton’s young defender John Stones, according to the Daily Star.
Stones, 19, has been superb for Everton this season, filling in for Phil Jagielka at central defence and Seamus Coleman at right-back, too. He has impressed a lot of people, including the bigger clubs in the Premier League.
It is thought that the west London club are looking at signing Stones for a massive £20m and offer the youngster a contract worth around £55,000-per-week.
However, any potential deal will be held up for a while until Stones can decide on an agent to represent him.
The defender is apparently about to end work with his current representative, Georgina Lillis, who secured his £3m switch from Barnsley to Goodison Park last year.
However, Chelsea are understood to be unhappy to negotiate with the new agent lined up by Stones so until that problem is resolved, Blues are unlikely to press ahead with any bids or negotiations.
Stones has been a sensation during Everton’s Champions League challenge this season and has even been tipped to make England’s World Cup squad this summer.
Luring him away from Goodison Park could be difficult, though, as Stones is highly-rated by his manager Roberto Martinez, who tried to sign him when in charge at Wigan, only to be pipped by Everton.
