Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is set to stay at Old Trafford following the departure of manager David Moyes, report Goal.
The England international became frustrated at his limited game time under the Scot and was reported to be weighing up his options ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, despite attracting interest from Everton and Tottenham, with Moyes sacked, he has now decided to stay with his boyhood club and fight for his place in the team.
Louis van Gaal is expected to be announced as the Red Devils new manager next week and Welbeck will look to prove his worth to the Dutchman.
The 23-year-old is often deployed on the left flank rather than in his preferred central role, a decision that he disagrees with as he has often delivered when given the opportunity to lead the line.
However, with both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie ahead of him in the pecking order it is difficult to justify his selection.
In a disastrous season for United, Welbeck has performed admirably and the club would be unwise not to retain his services as he continues to mature into an excellent player.
