Arsenal were keen to sign a striker at the end of the summer transfer window and failed in their attempts to land Demba Ba from Chelsea on the final day.
With only Giroud as the decent option available up-front there is no doubt that Arsene Wenger might try for another attacker in the January transfer window.
Latest reports from Mirror say that Gunners edge closer to a loan move for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente who has not seen much playing time since his move from Athletic Bilbao.
Llorente’s summer move to the Turin club has not been successful so far as the presence of Carlos Tevez ahead of him has made life difficult for the Spaniard to get regular first team appearances.
It was earlier reported that the Gunners were tracking the striker in a hope to land him in January, and if things continue to be the way it is now, Llorente might come to the Emirates seeking some regular first team access as he would like to impress his National team coach.
At 28, this would practically be the striker’s last chance to represent his team in the World Cup and staying at Juventus might do little to help his cause.
It would be a welcome move for the Gunners as well. Although it will not be a long term solution and having failed to sign Suarez and Rooney in summer – Llorente might be a decent option to have until big guns arrive at the Emirates.
