Spaniard Xabi Alonso looks set to extend his stay at the Bernebeu, after mounting speculation of his possible exit. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that they are hashing out a contract extension for the 32-year-old, whose current contract runs out in June 2014.
Alonso’s season has been plagued with injuries, with a frustrating start to the season, which has seen Luka Modric claim his spot in midfield. He has been relegated to the bench, and might need to look for a transfer to keep his World Cup hopes alive.
His former employers Liverpool will look plot a sensational comeback for him to the Premier League, where he spent 5 years with much success, if he fails to agree new terms with Madrid.
