Liverpool’s summer clear out seems to be well on the way with TalkSPORT reporting that Inter Milan are considering bidding for Lucas Leiva.
The Brazilian, 27, has been with the club since 2007 but this season has found himself on the fringes of the first team thanks to the partnership that Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson have struck up.
Fans seem to have finally turned on Lucas too , despite the Brazilian appearing to be unsellable for many years.
The report suggests that Inter believe a bid of around £8 million would be enough in order to bring the Brazilian to Italy. This move would appear to place Lucas on the top of their defensive midfielder shaped pile, with John Obi Mikel, Sandro and Javi Garcia amongst those that the Serie A giants have been linked with.
Despite being one of the first names on the team-sheet for many years Lucas’ importance to the club has been dwindling for some time as Brendan Rodgers has had to find a way to allow Steven Gerrard to play deeper. Lucas has proven to be the fall guy in this situation and he started just 21 games this season.
With Esteban Cambiasso leaving Inter at the end of the season as his contract expires there will be a vacancy for some to fill his sizeable shoes.
