Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Real Madrid over a potential move for Sami Khedira in the summer, according to TalkSPORT.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is a known fan of Khedira from their time together at Real, with the German midfielder having been a regular starter under the Portuguese tactician.
And now it appears that Mourinho could look to reunite with his former charge at Stamford Bridge, with Khedira’s future with Real up in the air after a season on the sidelines.
The industrious midfielder has missed the majority of this season with a knee injury and is expected to sit out the remainder of the campaign – including the World Cup with Germany – with it unknown whether Real are making plans for the future without him, as is often the way at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Should he be made available for transfer, Chelsea are in pole position due to Khedira’s relationship with Mourinho and would jump at the chance of playing under ‘the Special One’ again and try his hand in the Premier League.
The Blues will face competition however, with Manchester United likely to revive their interest after failing with a late bid on summer deadline day and Arsenal also reportedly interested in bringing him to England.
