According to recent reports in the Telegraph, Liverpool are targeting midfielder Nigel de Jong following the injury to star man Lucas which will see him on the sidelines for close to two months.
The AC Milan star moved to Italy from Manchester City last season for a meagre sum of £3.5 million, and has become an important fixture for the Italian side since, performing consistently at the highest level.
The Dutch international played in the Premier League for the best part of three years, notching up 137 appearances.
With the injury to Brazil holding midfielder Lucas, who has been outstanding for the Reds this season, a replacement in the form of Nigel de Jong could be vital to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Brendan Rodgers and the management will be working overtime to land the 29-year old to save their promising season, however, AC Milan are said to be the biggest hurdle for the Merseyside club.
