Reports emanating from Spain suggest that Liverpool are lining up a summer move for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
The Spanish international is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning that he will be available on a free transfer, and Spanish news outlet Sport believe that Liverpool have already presented the 32 year old with an offer.
Valdes has been a mainstay for Barcelona in the success of recent years, but has recently seen a number of other goalkeepers linked with the Barcelona number one shirt.
He is unlikely to sign a new deal for the club when his current contract expires, sparking speculation over his next move.
The Spanish keeper has also been linked with Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester City, but Sport believe that Liverpool are also keen and have already made an offer.
Should he move to Anfield, then Valdes would be in competition with Simon Mignolet. The summer signing from Sunderland started his Reds career brightly, but has come in for a degree of criticism as the season has worn on.
Liverpool also have Brad Jones and Pep Reina on the books, although Reina –currently on loan at Italian side Napoli –looks certain to leave the club in the summer.
