Liverpool have ignited their interest in Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette after scouting him over the past week, according to the Metro.
Brendan Rodgers is thought to be eyeing the powerful centre forward who has impressed in Ligue 1 this season and has scored 18 goals in all competitions.
His latest came against Ukrainian side Chornomorets Odessa in the Europa League, with the Frenchman bagging an 87th minute winner to cap off a fine performance.
But it wasn’t just the Lyon fans he impressed, with Liverpool officials in the stands at the Stade Gerland to watch him.
The 22-year-old would only be back-up to Rodgers’ prolific strikeforce – despite rumours that Chelsea want to bring Daniel Sturridge back to Stamford Bridge – which may swing his decision to move should Liverpool want to sign him.
Arsenal and Tottenham have also shown an interest in the pacey striker, but apparently, Liverpool have been watch him at least five times, showing their ambition to make the decisive move in the summer.
Lyon have already confessed that they will struggle to hold onto the attacker, who can play as a striker or winger.
Lacazette will likely be part of the France squad at the World Cup in the summer, but he is expected to have sealed a transfer away from Lyon before then.
