Rumour: Liverpool target Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette

Liverpool are reportedly keen on a move for Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, with The Metro suggesting that they are in line to tie up a £10 million move for the striker at the end of the season. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to bolster his squad’s depth at the end of the season, having missed out on additions in January, and could be about to add 22 year-old Lacazette to what is one of Europe’s most in-form frontlines.

Lacazette is Lyon’s top goalscorer this season, netting 13 times in 25 league games. The two cap French international has also created 33 chances this season, the second highest amongst Lyon’s squad, of which two have been assists.

Boasting a conversion rate of 25.5% alongside electric pace that has seen him go past his man on 41 occasions this season, Lacazette would be competing with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge for a starting berth at the centre of Liverpool’s attack, should he move.

Liverpool currently sit second in the Premier League due to a run of free flowing goalscoring form, but, while their starting eleven is strong, are lacking in depth. Lacazette would undoubtedly add to this going forward, although would also provide a welcome selection headache for Rodgers.
