Liverpool appear to have given up their pursuit of Southampton winger Adam Lallana and are now targetting Bayern Munich’s Xheran Shaqiri instead accoring to the Daily Mail.
Lallana had been a top target of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers but Southampton aren’t keen to lost another one of their star players to Liverpool, who purchase striker Rickie Lambert for £4 million. The Saints’ sporting director Les Reed himself said that he wanted Lallana to stay ‘a little longer’ with the club.
Bayern see Shaqiri as a long term repacement to Franck Ribery but the youngster has grown frustrated with just warming a bench and wants to move to greener pastures.
The 22-year-old is a part of Switzerland’s World Cup squad and played the full 90 minutes against Ecuador in an eventual 2-1 win.
Shaqiri can play in multiple positions and would be a brilliant addition to the Anfield outfit.
