Rumours say that Manchester City are ready to shell out £30 million to lure Southampton wonder kid Luke Shaw. City’s interest was evident when they launched a bid in the January transfer which was rejected by the Saints.

In the U-21 clash between the two teams at the Etihad stadium earlier this season, City’s elite developmental coach Patrick Viera was there himself to see Shaw play.

City have been long time admirers of Shaw and their cause increases further as their left backs Alexander Kolarov and Gael Clichy have hardly been consistent and they have not pleased Manuel Pellegrini much.

The Manchester giants were encouraged by the talks that ensued in January and they are trying to leapfrog teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham in buying the teenager who made his England debut earlier this month.

The only hindrance for City is that Shaw is a boyhood supporter of Chelsea and his parents’ reside in Raynes Park which is very close to Cobham- Chelsea’s training centre.

But even Chelsea face a small problem. Shaw is represented by the Stellar Group- The same group that represents Ashley Cole. With Cesar Aspelicueta displacing Cole from the left back position, Shaw would be wary of the amount of chances he’ll get at Stamford Bridge.

David Moyes is another in line to get the dotted line signed by Shaw. Shaw is touted to be a long term replacement for Patrice Evra and he’s very much a part of Moyes’ plans.

With three big clubs in for him, it would be interesting to see whether he moves out or stays at St.Mary’s next season.
