Manchester City are all set to launch a world record bid of £40 million for Bayern Munich goal-keeper Manuel Neuer, according to Mirror Football.
If this move materialises, it would be the highest amount ever paid for a goal keeper. Previously, Juventus paid £32.6 million to snap up Italian international Gianluigi Buffon.
Insiders believe Neuer would be offered a £105,000-per-week deal at the Etihad. Manchester City are sure to part ways with current custodian Joe Hart by next summer. They are in search of a quality replacement for the English international.
The English goalkeeper has been somewhat cornered at the club recently. City manager Manuel Pellegrini has chose to favour Costel Pantilimon between the sticks in the Premier League in place of Hart.
