According to sources, Manchester United’s board has given the green light to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.
It is learnt that they will submit a bid in the region of £40 million to sign the striker.
We understand that manager David Moyes has scouted the player a number of times and is willing to sign him up and bring him to Old Trafford. He also believes that Costa is the right player to replace Robin van Persie.
Although Moyes has mentioned that van Persie will not leave the club, The Dutch striker has been critical in the press of United’s tactics and doesn’t look too happy at the club, with many rumours circulating of his impending departure in the summer, two years before his contract expires.
There were also rumours suggesting that van Persie may return to Arsenal.
Diego Costa has been in sensational form for Atletico Madrid this season, scoring 28 goals in La Liga (21) and the Champions League (7).
