In what has come as a decision which should have been taken earlier, it has been revealed that Manchester United are exploring the possibility of cancelling Anderson’s £60,000 a week contract if they do not find a buyer for the Brazilian in the January transfer window.
Anderson made the switch to Manchester United in May 2007 for a whopping £26 million pounds, having impressed in his time at former club FC Porto. The Brazilian came to United with a reputation of one of the most talented youngsters on the planet but failed miserably at the Old Trafford outfit.
His time at United has been plagued with injuries and underperformances. Although he was given a chance to impress new boss Louis Van Gaal during United’s pre-season tour to the United States, he once again failed to impress.
As a result, the Dutchman has decided to cash in on him, or, terminate the remainder of his contract altogether and pay the remainder of his wages, which amounts to £1.4 million pounds.
He was transfer listed during the summer transfer window but with no club coming forth with a concrete offer, the former Porto man had to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
