Manchester United are reportedly contemplating another go at midfielder Adrien Rabiot, a Liverpool target. The Frenchman ended his contract with Juventus last season and is now a free agent.
Rabiot - who reached the Euro 2024 semi-final with France (lost 2-1 to eventual winners Spain) - contributed 22 goals and 15 assists in 212 games across competitions for Juventus since arriving in the summer of 2019.
As per TBR, Liverpool are also in the fray for the Frenchman, who's apparently looking to move to Old Trafford. Tutto Sport (via TBR) mentions that United are planning to hold talks with Rabiot's entourage in the next few days, having pursued the player for a while.
Rabiot - a six-time Ligue 1 winner with PSG - won the 2019-20 Serie A title with Juventus, where he won two Coppa Italia titles and one Italian Super Cup. He played five games at Euro 2024 - without making a goal contribution - as Les Bleus crashed out in the last-four.
Meanwhile, United are contemplating reinforcements in midfield, with Casemiro facing an uncertain future.
How have Manchester United and Liverpool fared in pre-season so far?
Manchester United commenced their pre-season last month with a surprise last-gasp 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg in Norway. But they bounced back with a 2-0 win over Rangers in Edinburgh before embarking on a tour of the US.
The Red Devils, though, fell 2-1 to domestic rivals Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with striker Rasmus Hojlund and new signing Leny Yoro coming off injured.
They then beat La Liga side Real Betis 3-2 at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego before winding up their pre-season against Liverpool on Saturday (August 3) at the William-Brice Stadium in South Carolina.
Liverpool, meanwhile, kickstarted the Arne Slot era with a 1-0 defeat at Preston North End before beating Betis by a solitary goal at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
They next beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia before taking on United at the weekend in South Carolina. Their pre-season winds up with a home clash with Sevilla on August 11.
