Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign 17-year-old Charalampos Kostoulas when the transfer window reopens in January. The Greek teenager plies his trade for Olympiacos.
Kostoulas - regarded as one of the rising stars of Greek football - is out of contract at the Greek giants in the summer. As per The Sun (via Team Talk), apart from United, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina, Juventus and Borussia Monchengladbach are also interested in his services.
The teenager was most recently in action in the UEFA Europa League in midweek as the reigning UEFA Europa Conference League winners drew goalless at home to FC Twente. Having scored twice and provided an assist in 10 league outings this campaign, Kostoulas is building on a superb campaign with the Under-19s last season.
As per The Sun, Kostoulas is versatile in the attacking third, as he can play behind the centre-forward, lead the attack and also operate down the wings. In the aforementioned Europa League draw, he earned a penalty, which was squandered by his teammate Ayoub El Kaabi. The Red Devils reportedly sent scouts to watch the teenager in that game.
Meanwhile, United are coming off a last-gasp come-from-behind 2-1 win at the weekend at four-time defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League. The win kept them in 13th place in the standings after 16 games, winning six.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes reflects on his penalty against Manchester City
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes acknowledged that his 88th-minute penalty in the win at Manchester City was a pivotal moment in the game, as City were just two minutes away from victory.
However, Fernandes' equaliser from the spot reinvigorated Ruben Amorim's side, as they bagged the go-ahead goal just two minutes later through a wonder strike from Amad Diallo.
"It was a big chance when still 1-0 down," Fernandes said about his penalty (as per the BBC). "I just tried to lift the ball away from Ederson. A penalty is a moment of nerves. They are a big part of games. I am ready to calm myself down in big moments."
About playing under new head coach Amorim, the Portugal international added:
"It is a process. We know what he demands, what he wants. It doesn't matter what happens. We stick to what we do."
The Red Devils next take on Tottenham Hotspur away in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Thursday (December 19).
