As per CaughtOffside’s report, Manchester United are planning to sign Manchester City’s defender Joleon Lescott. Although David Moyes had earlier targeted the Everton center back Phil Jageilka, he has turned to his rivals for a second option in the form of Lescott.
With Nemanja Vidic plagued with injuries and an out-form Rio Ferdinand in his squad, the Scot would look to sign a new center back in January.
Lescott, 31, is serving the last of year of his contract at Manchester City, and is finding it difficult to get a position in Manuel Pellegrini’s first eleven.
Such a move would be something of a shock but could perhaps be a cost effective option for David Moyes to consider, although a lot could depend on any bad blood that exists between the two teams from Manchester.
