The Daily Star reports that Manchester United have turned their attention to Napoli talisman Marek Hamsik in an attempt to solve the on-going crisis in the center of the park.
Hamsik, who plays in an advanced midfield position has been a star in Italy, having been on the radar of many European clubs over the years. The strong, box to box worker has already scored 6 goals in the domestic league in 12 appearances this season.
In contrast, Manchester United have been poor in midfield this season, because of which David Moyes has had to use Wayne Rooney in a deeper lying role to fill that void. The likes of Tom Cleverly, Nani, Valencia and Kagawa have chronically under performed so far, compelling the new boss to look else where to find the much needed spark.
Having been warned off targets like Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and the like, the Manchester side have shifted sights to an accomplished and proven playmaker, who is likely to change the fortunes of the depleted club.
With Napoli knocked out of this year’s UEFA Champions League, a move for the 26-year old might well be on. However, the Old Trafford club will need to stump up a large fee if they are to have any chance of landing the Slovakian.
