Reports have surfaced in Spain today that Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for Cesc Fabregas, as disclosed by the Metro.
United pushed hard to sign the ex-Arsenal man last summer, but Barcelona were reluctant to part with Fabregas – a player they saw as a natural heir to Xavi’s throne – turning down three separate bids over the course of a drawn out saga which lasted most of the summer.
Of course, any potential deal would be subject to a successful appeal from Barcelona with regards to their transfer embargo – currently, Barcelona club are prevented from conducting a transfer dealings in the next two windows due to the illegal signing of several U-18 Internationals.
Fabregas has supposedly failed to impress the Barcelona hierarchy thus far and will be part of an extensive clear-out in the coming months should the restrictions imposed by FIFA be rescinded.
United are prepared to offer £25 million for the 26-year-old in an attempt to inject a creative spark into their unimaginative midfield.
Fabregas has featured 31 times for Barcelona this season, netting eight times and assisting on 12 occasions.
