Manchester United boss David Moyes is reportedly lining up a double raid on Juventus, with the Daily Mail reporting that he is interested in signing both Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal. The United boss was seen in the stands of Juventus’s last game – a 4-1 victory over Cagliari at the weekend – with Pogba and Vidal his reported targets. He is said to have already spoken to Juventus’s chief negotiator, Beppe Moratta, about a possible deal, although he concedes that January moves may be unrealistic.
Pogba only left United in 2012, but has developed into a top level player during his time in Turin. He left United due to a lack of first team opportunities, but would walk straight into the team if he were to return to Old Trafford.
United are lacking in midfield areas this season, which has contributed to their disappointing opening half of the Premier League season. Vidal and Pogba would both add to Moyes’s midfield options, but would both come at a price and United are unlikely to be able to tie up deals for the duo in January.
The Mail believe that Moyes believes that his best hope of luring Vidal to Manchester lies with a summer move, as Moratta indicated that Juventus will be more likely to negotiate during the close season, whilst the same is likely to be true of Pogba.
Pogba is also interesting French side Paris Saint Germain and – while he has not ruled out a return to United – the oil-rich French club’s interest is likely to push his asking price beyond £40 million.
Moyes watched Pogba and Vidal win seven tackles and create three chances between them during his weekend scouting mission.
